With this update, Talend adds new features, including custom business modeling and machine learning-based data classification and documentation.

According to the vendor, the latest version enables organizations of all sizes to continuously manage data at scale and ensure the health of the data used to drive business results.

“Dependency on data has grown exponentially in recent years and businesses today need greater control and trust of their data to ensure it is sound for decision-making and business. operations,” said Daniel Mayer, Vice President, Product Management, Talend. “We’re excited to announce the availability of our latest version of Data Catalog, which will help organizations implement a proactive approach to governance, accelerate productivity, and quickly leverage their data.”

An integral part of the Talend Data Fabric platform, Talend Data Catalog 8 is built on a solid foundation of metadata management and data cataloging features.

The solution helps data architects and governance specialists, in particular, accelerate their productivity and work smarter to accelerate data value. New features to help businesses improve data compliance and control include:

  • Bespoke Business Modeling: Define custom, flexible, and adaptable metamodels for any domain that accurately reflect business priorities and goals. This capability prevents circumventing business rules and conforming to out-of-the-box templates that are only partially fit, helping teams increase their overall business agility.
  • Automated data classification: Automatically monitor data stores and use machine learning to classify data based on important patterns, such as compliance violations, then proactively send alerts to data stewards. This ability to enable automatic compliance at scale from a single location improves productivity and simplifies API execution, which increases accountability, limits risk, and avoids non-scalable alternatives such as internally created processes. or point solutions. Now data professionals can spend less time manually managing the classification process and more time helping the business use data to drive business results.
  • Custom Objects and User Rules: Define and customize objects, including relationships between business objects/models and technical objects. Rules can be assigned to owners for activities, responsibilities and assets. This feature reduces risk and allows documentation to be exported and re-imported on a new object with a similar namespace, saving time and manual labor and increasing overall productivity.
  • Enhanced lineage with inference: Export data lineage and transformation logic using secure API interfaces. This unique capability enables enterprises to respond to compliance demands with inferential evidence by capturing changes throughout the data lifecycle.
